Effect of stability on fracture healing
Initial work by the Cambfix team and others have shown that fracture treatment can be achieved by:
Absolute stability
Relative stability
Effect of movement on bone healing
It has been shown that micro movement across the fracture increases healing rate. It is the strain, whether compressive or tensile that increases bone mineralisation.
The micro-movement that occurs at the soft tissue-bone interface with the non-invasive external fixator allows for callus formation, which is the natural way of fracture healing.
